The Brüggli-Forellen fish farm in Sattel, Switzerland, uses Spectral Blue's innovative disinfection technology across its entire production area to effectively minimize the risk of contamination through this additional hygiene measure.
The family business, now in its second generation, is known for its high-quality fish specialties from its propia and natural breeding. Around 120,000 rainbow and salmon trout as well as char are bred and processed annually, making Brüggli-Forellen one of the larger fish farms in Switzerland.
Franz Georg Reichmuth, owner and managing director of Brüggli-Forellen GmbH, attaches great importance to sustainability: the company uses environmentally friendly solar energy for production, as well as Grander water and effective microorganisms for healthy, natural fish farming, to avoid the use of medication as much as possible. In addition to these sustainable methods, the company is always open to new product ideas and innovative approaches for increasing efficiency and improving hygiene measures.
"As an SME, we need to use our human resources efficiently and avoid unplanned additional costs. Spectral Blue is used after conventional cleaning, in addition to existing hygiene processes. The blue light reliably destroys any remaining microbial residues and biofilms and prevents their growth. This enables us to guarantee our customers the highest quality and product safety."
"Spectral Blue is like a seatbelt in a car for us—you hope you'll never need it, but when it matters, it works reliably."
- Franz Georg Reichmuth, owner and managing director of Brüggli-Forellen GmbH
Spectral Blue MWHI® Multi-Wavelength, High-Intensity disinfection devices are used overnight to decontaminate the entire production area and sanitary facilities.
In the production area the high-performance L100 and L200 devices are installed, which achieve great effectiveness thanks to their high intensity. Automated blue light disinfection using a timer enables efficient logging of disinfection cycles as part of continuous hygiene monitoring. With the long product life of LEDs averaging 50,000 hours, the new technology fits perfectly into Brüggli-Forellen GmbH's sustainability strategy.
