In a groundbreaking collaboration between LED Tailor and its Swiss distributor, P12 Medical GmbH, Metzgerei Künzli has become the first company in Switzerland to implement Spectral Blue MWHI® technology in a food production site.
The traditional Künzli butcher's shop at the foot of the Uetliberg in Stallikon is now in its second generation of producing handmade meat and sausage specialties with love and passion. The name Künzli stands for the highest standards of quality and hygiene, controlled living conditions for the animals, a modern and safe working environment for the employees and sustainable production.
The Spectral Blue Multi-Wavelength, High-Intensity (MWHI) blue light disinfection devices were installed in the Künzli production site to disinfect one of the production areas. The powerful Spectral Blue L200 devices were selected and have proven their effectiveness and intensity even in a room with a high ceiling. The devices are automatically operated with a timer, and the disinfection cycles can be logged in their continuous hygiene monitoring system.
Enhancing Hygiene Protocols with Spectral Blue
Spectral Blue MWHI® blue light disinfection technology enhances existing hygiene protocols by safely eliminating microbial residues and biofilms post-conventional cleaning, preventing their growth. It disinfects work surfaces and air, reaching even small spaces that are challenging to disinfect using conventional methods.
Driven by the desire to ensure ever-better hygiene, economic health, and sustainability, factors such as power consumption and service life also played a major role in Künzli’s decision to use Spectral Blue devices. The devices are also powered by electricity from renewable energy sources.
As the visible blue light emitted by Spectral Blue devices is harmless to humans and produces no hazardous emissions, it poses no risk to staff. Access to the premises remains safe during blue light illumination. Additionally, blue light does not leave any chemical residue on surfaces and does not damage materials such as plastics.
"We are thrilled to be the first company in Switzerland to use Spectral Blue devices. By using Spectral Blue devices, we prevent cross-contamination in our production chain. We were able to define the optimum period of disinfection while considering ecological and economic criteria. By using Spectral Blue, the growth and reproduction of unwanted microorganisms is prevented," says a Metzgerei Künzli AG representative.
